DESCRIPTION

ACCELERATING AND WATER REDUCING ADDITIVE WITHOUT CHLORIDES

ACCELCON NC is a ready-to-use accelerating, water-reducing admixture in concrete and contains no additional calcium chloride or chloride ions. Increases early age strength at low temperatures and is especially effective at extreme low temperatures such as -7°C. ACCELCON NC also increases the workability of concrete and reduces bleeding and segregation. This product is compatible with most admixtures commonly used in conventional concrete.

MAIN APPLICATIONS

  • Concrete placement in cold climates.
  • Structural and conventional concrete.
  • Mortar and concrete blocks.
  • Precast concrete and prestressed concrete.

FEATURES/BENEFITS

  • Reduces initial set time by 1 to 6 hours, depending on concrete temperatures.
  • Reduces construction costs; the concrete placement cycle is accelerated.
  • Improves workability and produces denser concrete.
  • Minimizes exudate and segregation.
  • Improves the development of compressive strength at early ages.
  • Reduces overtime work as it allows completion on the same day.

SPECIFICATIONS/STANDARDS

ASTM C-494, Type C and E additives.

ACI-201, Guide for Durable Concrete, and ACI-302, Guide for Concrete Floor and Slab Construction, prohibit the use of chlorides in many types of concrete. ACCELCON NC can be used on these types of concrete, such as floors over prestressed concrete or galvanized decks, floors with two types of embedded metal, reinforced concrete in humid environments and/or exposed to chloride deicing salts.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Typical Engineering Information

ACCELCON NC is used at a rate of 10-90 oz/100lb (625-5600 ml/100kg) of cement on most jobs. As the dosage is increased, the acceleration of the setting time and the resistances increase.

CONTAINER

ACCELCON NC is offered in bulk 55 gallon (208 liter) tanks and 5 gallon pails.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Add ACCELCON NC with the water and aggregate to the concrete mix pot, but do not pour it on the dry cement. At ambient temperatures of -7°C to 17°C add to concrete at a rate of 10-90 oz/100lb (625-5600ml/100kg) of cement, depending on desired acceleration rate, early age strength acquisition, stripping, etc. When the ambient temperature is below 10°C follow the recommendations of ACI-306, “Recommended Practice for Cold Weather Concreting”.

PRECAUTIONS/RESTRICTIONS

  • If material has been frozen, do not use. This material cannot be reconstituted.
  • Do not place directly on dry cement.
