DESCRIPTION
HIGH RANGE WATER REDUCER – SUPERPLASTICIZER
ADIPLAST 1000 is a second generation high range water reducing admixture. It can be proportioned to the concrete on the job or at the ready-mix concrete plant. Chlorides are not used in its formulation; therefore it is recommended for pre-stressed concrete. It is also compatible with air-entraining agents, waterproofing agents, calcium chloride and many other additives; however, it must be added to the concrete separately.
MAIN APPLICATIONS
High resistance concrete.
Pre-mixed concrete in general.
Heavily reinforced concrete.
Concrete for slabs and mass concrete.
Concrete with minimal water content. Concrete with a low water/cement ratio. High slump fluid concrete.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
- Produces concrete with low water content and a low water/cement ratio, allowing higher strengths to be achieved.
- Produces flowable concrete with higher than normal strengths.
- Helps concrete placement and reduces labor costs.
When used in precast elements, with type I cement, it will result in higher strengths at earlier ages.
PACKAGING
ADIPLAST 1000 is supplied in 55 gallon tanks and 5 gallon pails.
SPECIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS
ADIPLAST 1000 fully complies with the requirements of ASTM C-494, type A and F additives.
APPEARANCE
ADIPLAST 1000 is a dark brown fluid liquid which, when added to concrete, does not change the natural appearance of the concrete.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Add ADIPLAST 1000 to sand and water. It must not come into contact with dry cement.
High Strength Concrete
Dosage – Place all concrete material in mixer with approximately 70% mixing water and mix for five (5) minutes or 70 revolutions. Dose ADIPLAST 1000 at a rate of 10-15 oz./100 lbs. (625-940 ml/100kg.) of cement. Carefully add additional water to obtain the necessary slump and mix for an additional three (3) minutes. These low water/cement ratio mixes can be placed at slumps of 5-8” (127-200 mm).
Conventional Concrete
Put all the concrete materials in the correct order in the mixer and mix for five (5) minutes or 70 revolutions to achieve a typical 3” (76mm) slump mix. Add ADIPLAST 1000 and mix for an additional (1) minute. Dosage – Use at a rate of 6-16 oz. /100lb. of cement (375-1000 ml/100kg).
Initial slump is generally between 2-3” (51-76 mm). These mixes, with a water/cement ratio of 0.45-0.50, are often used for floors and slabs, where minimizing water content, shrinkage, and cracking is required.
Flowing Concrete
Place all concrete material in the correct order in the mixer and mix for five (5) minutes or 70 revolutions to achieve a typical 3” (76mm) slump mix. Add ADIPLAST 1000 and mix for another three (3) minutes.
Dosage – Use ADIPLAST 1000 at a rate of 10-12 oz/100lb (625-750 ml/100kg) of cement on conventional slump concrete (3” / 76 mm) to achieve a fluid mix . Mix design proportions should be based on temperature, cement type, and required slump loss. The following table shows the approximate amounts that are added to achieve a flowable concrete.
When designing mixes for use with ADIPLAST 1000 follow the recommendations of ACI 211.1 and 211.2. Adjust the ratio of the aggregates to maintain homogeneity.
Placement – Concrete treated with ADIPLAST 1000 can be placed in the same way as conventional concrete.
Formwork – Formwork for walls or narrow sections must be waterproof, strong and well anchored. During the “flow period”, when the concrete has a slump of 7-9” (178-229 mm), it will exert greater pressure on the base of the form than with conventional concrete. Formwork for slabs is the same as for conventional concrete.
Cured and Sealed – It is very important to follow the correct procedures to ensure the durability and quality of the concrete. To prevent surface cracks, cure slabs with a high solids compound such as SUPER AQUA-CURE VOX or SUPER REZ-SEAL.
CLEANING
Clean tools and equipment with water before material hardens.
PRECAUTIONS / RESTRICTIONS
- Mix designs, trial mixes and trial slabs are recommended due to site variations in cement and aggregate.
- ADIPLAST 1000 is used in many different mix designs. SPC's Engineering Department and Technical Services Department should be consulted whenever there is any question regarding its use or compatibility with other additives. There are many mix designs on file and they can be excellent reference material when preparing a mix design project.
- Added to the mix independently of other additives.
