DESCRIPTION

POLYURETHANE WATERPROOFING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE TRAFFIC

VULKEM 350/345/346 is a modified polyurethane traffic surface waterproofing system comprised of a base coat (350), a high performance wear coat (345) and a topcoat (346). The application of the system comes from the unique combination of components:

  • Vulkem polyurethane joint sealants, for sealing expansion and control joints, cracks and drains.

  • Vulkem integral elastomers formulated to adhere to vertical surfaces.
  • Base layer in tenaciously adhered polyurethane rubber, to waterproof.
  • Intermediate layer of Vulkem urethane elastomers with aggregates for excellent impact, abrasion and chemical resistance.
  • Double coating of Vulkem polyurethane elastomers in critical traffic areas.
  • Aliphatic polyurethane surface layer for greater durability.

MAIN APPLICATIONS

Designed as a waterproofing, anti-slip, wear resistant coating system. For use on parking areas, roofs, stadium bleachers, balconies and other surfaces requiring a durable coating.

APP

Vulkem membranes and coatings are sold to qualified applicators trained in the procedures and techniques involved with Mameco International installation procedures. Since on-site requirements may vary, consult your SPC, SA technical representative for specific designs and procedures.

Concrete Preparation

Concrete surfaces to be treated must be clean and dry. Concrete slabs should have a light metal trowel finish followed by fine bristle brushing or equivalent finish.

New concrete must be placed and water cured for at least 28 days prior to coating application. The removal of contaminants by means of acids or polishing of the concrete surface is necessary before the application of the material.

Old slabs should be cleaned, depending on the condition of the slab, by grinding, power washing, or steam cleaning to expose a clean concrete surface. See your SPC representative for more details.

Detailed

Following application directions, apply a 30 mil coat. of the Vulkem 450 coating to shrinkage cracks, cold joints, etc. Let heal.

Waterproofing Base Layer

Vulkem 350 polyurethane-based rubber basecoat can be applied by spray, roller, rubber broom or trowel at a thickness of 30 mils. Let heal.

High Wear Resistance Layer

On all ramps apply a 15 mil coat, and in turning areas apply a 30 mil coat. of Vulkem 345 with aggregate to the entire work surface. This procedure will provide double protection in critical traffic areas.

Finish Layer

As a final coat, Vulkem 346 is applied at a rate of 200 square feet per gallon for durability and resistance to chemical attack. Let cure for 72 hours.

The Vulkem Traffic Surface Coating System is 63 mils thick, with a 93 mils thick. In critical traffic areas such as lanes, ramps and turning areas.

PRECAUTIONS/LIMITATIONS

  • Do not apply on wet or contaminated surfaces.
  • Use with adequate ventilation.

CONTAINER

Available in 5 gallon pails and 55 gallon tanks.

COLORS

Grey, Beige, Red and Green.

Maintenance

Surfaces can be washed with commercial detergents or in extreme conditions, with chlorinated solvents, and steam or pressure washing. If there are damaged or worn areas, the system can be repaired by removing the area, cleaning properly and re-coating.
